At the Case Foundation, we’re focused on leveraging new technologies and tools to create new approaches for affecting positive social change, and the Project Manager plays a key role in ensuring that our programs are executed on time and within budget. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Operations, this role works across multiple functions and levels, including the executive team, Marketing/Communications, Social Innovation and Interactive Strategies teams as well as external partners, developers, and designers to co-develop plans and manage projects. This role has a direct impact on the outcomes of our initiatives. In addition to working on Case Foundation initiatives the Project Manager may also work on exciting new initiatives of the Case Foundation strategic partners and grantees.

The Project Manager will be based in Washington DC and challenged to meet the following broad goals and objectives:

  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Assist teams in identifying and managing project risks.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Manage and work across internal and external teams, vendors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure timely execution of Foundation or other entity initiatives.
  • Oversee overall project calendar and project plans for Foundation and partner initiatives, to support Foundation priorities through its own initiatives and those of grantees, marketing partners, and others.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project, including timeline, budget and scope, serving as a liaison between vendors and team members.
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities. Work with Executive Team to plan and coordinate yearly and/or quarterly program planning presentation, and yearly and/or quarterly resource allocation across the organization.
  • Assist in managing the technical aspects of the Foundation’s online properties and contribute to strategy for and support of the existing digital infrastructure, including assisting in developing new campaigns in the interactive space.
  • Co-manage the Foundation’s internship program, which occurs each semester during the year – Spring, Summer and Fall. Tasks include: managing the yearly budget, conducting recruitment and interviews, and hiring, in addition to training, onboarding, and the daily management of all interns in the program.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Beyond these objectives, the Project Manager should ideally possess the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Broad exposure and experience managing multiple projects at a time, and managing initiatives for both non-profit and for-profit organizations.
  • The ability to be highly responsive to the needs and agendas of the Foundation’s internal teams, stakeholders from other entities, and external vendors, partners and grantees.
  • Superb organizational and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to diplomatically prioritize demands.
  • An ability to perform effectively under pressure and to utilize strong organizational skills when faced with multiple time-sensitive priorities – a willingness to “roll-up sleeves” and personally handle all aspects of position.
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, including the humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace.
  • A strong understanding of modern project management methodologies.
  • An interest in the tech for good space, and passion for working in an environment that seeks new solutions to solving social challenges.
  • Basic understanding of a website development processes, platforms and programs, and/or willingness to learn on the job.
  • A high energy level, self-motivated.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Confidence and enthusiasm when communicating to both external partners and the internal project team in both formal and informal presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging social networking and other online community-related tools and an enthusiasm for experimenting with new communications technologies.


  • At least 2-3 years of demonstrated project management experience required; understanding of the web development process and web publishing using content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Training and/or use of specific project management methodologies a plus.
  • Experience in and understanding of the nonprofit sector a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
