About the Role
Based in: To be agreed (may be at one of PCi’s offices in London or Lucca area, Italy or home-based in Lebanon); regular travel to Lebanon (up to 25% travel load)
Contract: Full-time fixed-term (10 months) employee or independent consultant contract (dependent upon location)
Fees: GBP 23,000-26,000 dependent on contract, skills and experience

The Project Officer, Middle East (Syria) plays an important role in implementing our Youth Empowerment and Participation in Public Affairs project. In collaboration with our local Syrian partner, the project works with a diverse group of young people engaged in civic activism and interested in peacebuilding.
You will provide strong and on-going coordination across all activities to ensure that PCi delivers its agreed outputs and deliverables on time and to budget. This will involve you in managing logistical arrangements, and providing support to monitoring and evaluating of project activities and the development of donor reports and briefings. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in the planning and design of project activities. You will assist in the financial management of the project and will work closely with our local partner to ensure their systems and procedures are robust and in compliance with PCI and donor requirements. You will work within a small project team, along with other PCi colleagues who provide technical input to this project.
The position is for 10 months in the first instance, with the intention that it will be extended in line with available funding and subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
Educated to degree level, preferably in Business Administration or International Development, you will have two to three years of experience in organisational administration and financial management, ideally in a development-related field. You must have excellent written and verbal skills in English; Arabic language skills would be a plus. You must be a self-starter and have proven experience in organising and planning events and activities. You will have experience in monitoring and evaluating activities and reporting to donors. Your excellent attention to detail, can-do attitude and ability to be result-focused will be demonstrated in your successful delivery of projects. Along with strong presentation and excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and self-awareness, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships with persons of different backgrounds, experiences and views.
