The Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (Kroc IPJ) at the University of San Diego’s Kroc School is seeking a driven, entrepreneurial leader to head up the newly-launched Target:Peace initiative. Target:Peace will leverage evidence and research to drive forward key policy and advocacy processes in the peacebuilding field. The goal – smarter, more effective peacebuilding and ultimately less violent conflict worldwide. Applicants should have 8-10 years’ experience, an MA or PhD, and be ready to take on a tough, but hugely rewarding leadership challenge. Top candidates will have:
Target:Peace is a partnership between the Kroc IPJ, the Stanley Foundation, and Milt Lauenstein, the primary supporter of the initiative. It will collaborate closely with the newly-established Global Peacebuilding Coalition. The position is based at the beautiful University of San Diego campus and will require regular travel. Compensation includes a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and being part of a dynamic team and rich learning environment at the Kroc School.
Supervision received form the Kroc IPJ Executive Director. Exercise supervision over staff of Target:Peace including at a minimum administrative support at USD and a staff presence in Washington D.C. The position is funded for four years beginning in 2019 and is expected to continue subject to funding availability.

Special Conditions of Employment: The Director is expected to travel both domestically and internationally. On occasion this will entail travel to lesser-developed countries that may be in some stage of conflict or post-conflict and for which some risk may be incurred.

|Additional Details:||This is a full-time, temporary, benefit based position with an anticipated assignment end date of June 30, 2023. Assignment extension is subject to continued funding availability.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
