Introduction
Asia is unique in its rich and diverse cultures, religions, natural and human resources. Unfortunately vast majority of the people still live under poverty line. Communal violence, suppression and deprivation of ethnic and religious minorities, arms race, war and conflict dashed the hope and aspirations for a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Asian unity. Part of it, due to colonial legacy and globalization process but part of it is our own making. Incompetent, corrupt governance, criminalization of politics and misinterpretation of religious teachings are in many ways responsible for this situation.
A movement for peace and sustainable development in the region requires a new generation of peace activists and development workers. Youth have been always frontline fighters for change. Today’s youth are many ways deprived from opportunities and support. In order to see a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Asia, youth can play very important and positive role.
