I am writing to share that I will be co-convening this year’s Middle East Studies Conference at Deakin University, 29-31 October: http://www.mesf.org.au/conference-announcement/.

While the conference focuses on the Middle East, I will have a parallel project involving 12-14 experts/scholars on ‘violent religious extremism in South Asia’: http://www.mesf.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/MESF-Call-for-papers-South-Asia-panels.pdf. Deakin University and the University of New England will jointly organize the project on South Asia.

The idea of these panels is to produce a special issue of a prestigious journal, such as South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies, or an edited book with Routledge/Palgrave.

Funding: The participants will cover all costs of participation in the conference, including in the panel on South Asia.

Feel free to contact me if you need further information at: zahid.ahmed@deakin.edu.au.

    Regards,

    Dr Zahid Shahab Ahmed

    Deakin University, Australia
