    Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We face humanitarian crises, inequity and injustice in communities all over the world and for us at the Kroc School of Peace Studies this order of things is unacceptable. We are committed to developing more effective solutions to current challenges. To support our mission we are launching a new MA program, a Master of Arts in Social Innovation (MASI). The MASI was designed for changemakers who are dissatisfied with the partial success or even failure of initiatives intended to alleviate poverty, reduce inequity, service those in need, and generate economic and social inclusion.

The MASI is a nine-month program that prepares students to design, implement and manage innovations for social change in a wide range of organizations and programs or through the creation of new initiatives. Participants gain practical skills for understanding big problems facing humanity and for problem solving.
Knowing things is not the same as knowing what to do and how to act. In this program, students develop methodologies for designing social innovation and implementing solutions, learning what works and discarding what doesn’t. Through a unique curriculum, they emerge better prepared to transform existing structures that are inefficient and perpetuate issues of poverty, inequity, conflict, and injustice instead of changing them. Courses offered by esteemed faculty from peace, business, leadership, and other disciplines provide an intellectually rich experience with practice that supports experimentation in taking ideas and turning them into action.
Innovators for social change can operate across boundaries between disciplines and sectors. They can work in established nonprofit or for-profit organizations as well as start-ups. While at the Kroc School students work on individualized career plans, they have the opportunity to connect with mentors and potential employers in impact investing, government, social entrepreneurship, social business, local and international nonprofits, and triple bottom line corporations.
Please share the news about the MASI program with students who are ready to take the leap into the journey of changemaking. The application deadline is March 15, 2017 for both full-time and part-time options.   To learn more about our innovative approach at the Kroc School, take a moment to review our Brochure, Social Innovation Challenge Video and visit our website:
