Arab Documentary Photography Program: Call for Applications!

In collaboration with The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and the Prince Claus Fund (PCF), we are pleased to open applications for the sixth year of the Arab Documentary Photography Program.

The Arab Documentary Photography Program supports and amplifies creative approaches to visual storytelling that challenge conventional narratives about the Arab region.

Selected grantees receive production support in the amount of $5,000 USD to produce long-term creative projects within an eight-month mentorship program with Randa Shaath, Eric Gottesman, Tanya Habjouqa, and Peter van Agtmael. Over the course of their project development, grantees come together for two intensive workshops in Beirut, where they have the opportunity to connect in person with each other and their mentors to edit and consider avenues for distribution.

To see previous projects and grantees, please visit http://www.arabdocphotography.org.

    Eligibility

Photographers from and working in the Arab region are invited to submit proposals that touch on social issues and realities relevant to the region. For the 2018 cycle, the program opens also to Arab applicants who have had to flee their home countries within the past seven years (since 2012) due to political unrest. Proposed projects must still be related to the region.

    How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online in English by May 1, 2019.

Applicants will be evaluated by an independent committee composed of experts and artists drawing from diverse backgrounds and originating from various parts of the Arab region and beyond.

Photographers may propose to work in any narrative style, and even include audio and/or video elements.

Applications are submitted through the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture. Applicants must create a profile to apply, or log in if they have previously registered.
