    CALL FOR APPLICATIONS ROMA GRADUATE PREPARATION PROGRAM* 2016 / 2017

    Deadline: 24 April, 2016

    The Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP) is an intensive, 10-month, non-degree program that prepares Roma** students to compete for merit-based places in English-language master’s degree programs. RGPP is part of the Roma Access Programs (RAP) unit of Central European University (CEU), located in Budapest, Hungary.

    RGPP provides students with:

    • academic preparation in the field of interest
    • intensive academic English-language courses
    • academic writing
    • auditing of MA classes / practice for admissions tests
    • critical thinking skills
    • debating skills
    • personalized study advice from RGPP faculty

    Academic fields

    • Economics
    • Environmental Sciences and Policy
    • Gender Studies
    • History
    • International Relations
    • Human Rights
    • Mathematics
    • Nationalism Studies
    • Philosophy
    • Political Science
    • Public Policy
    • Sociology and Social Anthropology

    Additional fields might be offered.

We offer full scholarships to all students. RGPP is funded by Ford Foundation, VELUX Foundations, Roma Initiatives of the Open Society Foundations, Sigrid Rausing Trust and Roma Education Fund.

    In order to be considered eligible for RGPP, you must meet the following criteria:

    1. You should come from one of the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine

    2. You must be Roma. The term Roma refers to Roma, Sinti, Kale, Travelers, and other ethnic groups in Europe of Romany heritage, including those who identify themselves as Gypsies

    3. You should have a university degree (Bachelor diploma), preferably in social sciences or humanities, completed by July 2016

    4. You should have a strong interest in studying at post-graduate university level and wish to apply to English-language master’s degree programs

    5. You should have at least pre-intermediate English language skills

    6. You have a desire to study in a multicultural and international environment

    7. You are ready to become an advocate for change and a role model in your own community and beyond.

    Important: Please note that RGPP does not guarantee that you will be accepted into an MA program at CEU or any other university. The program prepares you to compete for merit-based places in English-language masters’ degree programs.


    *From its establishment in 2004 until August 2012 the program was known as the Roma Access Program (RAP).

    ** The term “Roma” refers to Roma, Sinti, Kale, Travelers, and other ethnic groups in Europe of Romany heritage, including those who identify themselves as Gypsies.
