Are you a high-schooler who wants to learn more about international development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? If you’re looking to challenge yourself and develop your leadership skills, apply to Plan International USA’s Youth Leadership Academy (YLA)! The aim of the YLA is to train young people (like you!) in leadership and civic engagement so you can return to your community and execute a project related to the SDG of your choice. We’re looking for motivated, driven high school students who are committed to working with Plan for one year.
The YLA will begin on the afternoon of Monday, July 23, 2018 and conclude on the afternoon of Friday, July 27, 2018. This week-long experience will allow you to build lifelong friendships and the opportunity to learn, refine, and apply critical leadership and communication skills.
In order to minimize financial barriers to participation, the registration fee will be $400 USD and will include food, housing, activity costs, and transportation during the week. Participants will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Catholic University of America at the beginning and end of the YLA.
Deadlines and Timeline
Thepriority application deadline is Sunday, April 8, 2018.
Once applications are received, selected applicants will be contacted for interviews, which will begin on March 16 and continue through April 16.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all YLA spots are filled. Applicants who have been selected to attend the YLA will receive a notification by April 30, 2018.

Financial aid and scholarships are available for those unable to cover the registration fee. Please complete the YLA Application Form first.
