    Each year at the InterAction Forum, InterAction acknowledges the contribution of individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the world’s most poor and vulnerable people. The following awards will be presented at Forum 2018.

     

    Disability Inclusion Award

    InterAction invites nominations for the 2018 Disability Inclusion Award. InterAction established the Disability Inclusion Award in collaboration with Mobility International USA in 2009 in honor of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD). This award recognizes member agencies and individuals within the sector that have worked towards greater disability inclusion in programs and management and who have expanded leadership opportunities for people with disabilities.

    This award will recognize our community’s innovative efforts to promote disability inclusion as a human rights issue.

    Member agency Investments include:

    • Outreach to include people with disabilities, especially disabled women and girls, in service delivery
    • Partnering with disabled people’s organizations
    • Outreach to recruit people with disabilities as staff, board members, advisors, or as volunteers in your organization
    • Disability inclusion in the budgeting process (such as reasonable accommodations)
    • Implementing new policy or expanding policy mandates on disability inclusion

    Individual accomplishments and requirements include:

    • Making a positive impact on the sector and disability inclusion
    • Demonstrated leadership and service over an extended period of time (at least 10 years)
    • Recognized by others as an innovator
    • May be employed or recently retired

    WHO CAN BE NOMINATED: InterAction member organizations or individuals within the sector who have worked tirelessly to improve the rights of people with disabilities

    PRESENTATION DATE: The Disability Inclusion Award will be presented during InterAction Forum 2018 to be held June 12-14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

    DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: April 2, 2018

    Effective Assistance Photography Award

    Each year, InterAction receives photos from talented artists located around that world that embodies the work of our sector.  This year we continue that tradition by encouraging professional and amateur photographers to submit photos that showcase rousing efforts and inspiring moments in international development and humanitarian assistance.

    One grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and the Effective Assistance Photography Certificate for the best photo overall. In addition to a grand prize winner, InterAction will award prizes for the best photo in the following three categories:  best youth potential photo, best women empowerment photo, and best photo taken on a mobile phone. Each category winner will receive $100 and have their photo featured at http://www.interaction.org.

    Julia Vadala Taft Outstanding Leadership Award

    The Julia Vadala Taft Outstanding Leadership Award honors outstanding and distinguished leaders in the community of U.S.-based international non-governmental organizations. The award celebrates the leadership of an individual within the U.S. international non-profit community whose career and vision has transcended their own organization by raising the influence and profile of the U.S. NGO sector as a whole.

    The Julia Vadala Taft award is named for a distinguished American humanitarian who served in a series of senior positions, including twice as President of InterAction, and celebrates the very best of who we are as a sector. Her leadership has and will continue to inspire many in the NGO community as she mobilized its members to curb poverty and relieve human suffering abroad.


    WHO CAN BE NOMINATED: Individuals within the US international non-profit community.

    PRESENTATION DATE: The Julia Vadala Taft Award Outstanding Leadership Award will be presented during InterAction Forum 2018 to be held June 12-14 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

    DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: March 16, 2018
