South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action, Nepal

The South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action (Asian Action Institute, in short) offers practitioners and scholars a great opportunity to learn about and reflect on ways to achieve social change through nonviolent civil resistance movements.
Program of the Institute will be divided into three parts:
1) general knowledge about the dynamics of civil resistance,
2) the study of specific local and regional cases of nonviolent campaigns and movements, and
3) collaborative groups where participants will work together on specific strategic planning simulations.
Participants: The Asian Action Institute is designed for activists, organizers, scholars, teachers, civil society professionals, as well as civic and political leaders across South Asia.
Presenters:Local, regional and international experts will present at the Institute and a field trip will offer an opportunity to listen to local organizers and learn about a local social justice campaign.
Institute Language: The Institute language will be in English.
This Asian Action Institute is jointly organized by the Center for Social Change (CSC), the Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies (DCPDS) at Tribhuvan University, the National Network of the Families of the Disappeared and Missing Nepal (NEFAD) and the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC).
This is the first South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action to be held in Nepal. This six-day long, residential Institute will be held from March 03-09, 2019 outside of Kathmandu, Nepal at Dhulikhel.
