Venice School of Human Rights

Admissions to the Venice School of Human Rights – Human Rights as Our Responsibility (9 – 17 June 2017), organised by the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) are open until 17 May 2017

mandfred-openingThe Opening Lecture of the School will be held by Prof. Manfred Nowak, EIUC Secretary General. Professor of international law and human rights at the University of Vienna, Manfred Nowak has been the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture and member of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances. He has been recently appointed by the UN Secretary General to lead the New Global Study on Situation of Children in Detention.

After a first session common to all participants, the programme will develop into three thematic clusters: – The Implementation of SDGs and Business & Human Rights; – Human Rights Defenders and – Sexual Violence in Conflict in a Changing Global Environment, among which participants will have to choose.

Target: The Venice School is addressed to graduate students from all academic backgrounds, students from the Global Campus regional masters in human rights and democratisationas well as to human rights practitioners willing to deepen and improve their knowledge in human rights issues.
Course language: All courses will be held in English. It is, therefore, essential that all participants understand and speak English fluently. 

All participants attending the Venice School of Human Rights will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the course.
