Dear Colleagues, Global Human Rights Leadership Training Institute is currently accepting applications for the  following online distance learning courses:   1) Online Certificate Course on Gender and Development Training, [3rd June – 3rd July 2015]. Course description: The course seeks to examine how gender identities are formed and re-shaped as a result of the development process – and responsive approaches in a variety of historical and cultural contexts. It will empower the participants with tools and sector-specific guidelines for gender mainstreaming in their various institutions and development planning. It will further improve the abilities of participants to reduce gender inequalities in their various homes, organisation and communities. Target Audience:

The course is aimed at gender focal points, women organisations, programs and project managers, researchers, policy-makers, activists, women advocates and feminists, students, staff of NGOs and CBOs, staff of UN specialized agencies, donor agency field workers, volunteers, development actors, trainers, students, government officials etc.

2) Online Certificate Course on Gender-based Violence Training [5th June – 6th July 2015] Course description: This course is aimed at building the capacity and commitment of participants to undertake programs targeted at eradicating gender-based violence and to develop a new movement for gender equality. The course also features a number of exercises and reflective activities designed to examine the concepts of gender, gender-based violence, sexuality, and rights. It will further explore the impact of gender-based violence on education, health and development. 3) Online Advance Certificate Course in Project Development & Management [29th May – 30th June 2015] Course description: This course is designed to provide participants with the rudimentary knowledge and skills that will enable them to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring requirements of their projects. It is intended to give participants an appreciation of the types and quantity of data that project managers require in order to keep a project within the confines of the triple constraints.  4) Online Certificate course on Human Rights & Social Justice Training [19th June – 24th July 2015]

 

Course description:

The Human Rights and Social Justice course is designed to promote a critical understanding of the human rights discourse. The course covers modern human rights institutions and how these work for state and non-state actors. The course also explores the political, historical and philosophical development of ideas about human rights which underpin current systems. In recognition of the importance of a globalized understanding of human rights, the course explores ideas about human rights from multi-disciplinary, multicultural and multi-religious perspectives, as well as looks at the roles of social movements, grass-roots campaigns and other actors have played in the development of human rights ideas and practices.

It builds up a clear body of theory, understanding and skills for each stage, so that by the end of the course participants have a clear competence across all stages of the cycle. Course Description:

The program will further equip participants with skills for better understanding of the concepts of human rights learning and leadership development. 8) Certificate Course on Mainstreaming Gender into Community Based Disaster Risk Management [11th June – 10th July 2015]

 

Course Description:

This course aims to integrate gender perspective in disaster risk management and to ensure that both women and men have the necessary capacities in addressing their respective vulnerabilities to enable them to protect themselves, their families and their immediate communities. It will further strengthen the participants’ knowledge and skills in integrating gender in the concepts and practices of CBDRM.
