Comrade Atty. T. Maxwell Grigsby, II is a native-born from the Southeastern Region of Liberia, particularly Sinoe County, with enviable leadership and academic credentials.
Atty. Grigsby or Teklo, as he’s affectionately called inspires the generation of Liberian young leaders with his usual message of hope, optimism and unimpeachable credibility. Comrade Grigsby, like many other ordinary young Liberians, has experienced the excruciating pain and agony of abject poverty and terrible state of deprivation of basic life’s necessity. He was not a benefactor of parental wealth or as we say in Liberian parlance, “he was not born with silver spoon’. Amidst the distasteful and highly deprived life’s journey, Teklo was determined to persevere for higher heights believing that the ‘difficulties were necessary ingredients for his success today’.
Comrade Grigsby is an Advocate, Humanitarian, Tax and Public Sector Administrator and Attorney-At who believes that “if it’s not difficult, it’s not deserving and fulfilling’. He has exhibited leadership, innovation and integrity in the discharge of his duties over the past nine (9) years. It is not surprising why his appointment has become a beacon of hope for the young generation. I and colleagues with like-minds can openly boast that this result-oriented and vision-minded young Leader will lead the Liberia National Commission on Small Arms (LiNCSA) to noble heights.
Considering the function of the commission which consist of formulating policies and ensuring the implementation of such policies and measures aimed at addressing the problem of proliferation and illicit manufacturing, use, distribution, possession and trafficking of small arms and light weapons; and coordinating and monitoring all private and public sector effort to prevent, combat and eradicate the proliferation and illicit trade in small arms and light weapons within and across the borders of Liberia. Moreover, reference the commission mandate to collaborate with the Ministry of Justice to ensure that the Liberia National Police (LNP) give licenses to would-be users of small arms characterized by transparency and accountability, Atty. Grigsby is rightly position to lead said charge. He has the requisite knowledge, expertise and energy to advance the common of cause of the commission in sustaining the fragile and deriving clear mechanism to minimize the proliferation and illicit trade of small arms and light weapons.
The story of Teklo from his days in elementary (Barnes Foundation School), High School (Len Millar), Undergraduate (A.M.E University), Graduate School (Cuttington University Graduate School and Professional Studies) and at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law speaks volume of how determination and perseverance can redefine the life’s journey of a young man hungry to make history.
