The Sentinel Project has launched a new initiative looking at how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) can support development and humanitarian work, as well as how government policies throughout the Global South either help or hinder innovation in this space. Peacebuilding is definitely a part of this and so we invite PCDN community members to participate. Broadly, we are looking for the following:
(1) People and organizations who are using (or have ideas for using) UAVs in development, humanitarian, or peacebuilding applications
(2) People and organizations who have experience or knowledge of relevant government agencies overseeing UAV policy (this includes people working in government themselves)
The following link includes more details on what we are trying to do and our key research questions: https://thesentinelproject.org/2017/09/09/call-for-participation-research-on-drone-policy-for-development-and-humanitarianism
Participation may take the form of a survey and / or interview. To join, just send an email briefly describing your interest and experience in the area. Then we will set something up from there. Emails can be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We also really appreciate anyone and everyone sending this call for participation far and wide.
