Policy Leader Fellowship 2019/2020 at the EUI School of Transnational Governance

Apply now!

The School of Transnational Governance (STG), based at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, is offering approximately 20 fellowships to early and mid-career policy professionals for the academic year 2019-2020.

The Policy Leader Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for policy professionals from around the world to further develop their policy work and professional skills whilst participating in workshops, training and skills development sessions, conferences and other events, in addition to interacting with the other fellows, policymakers and the academic community at the EUI.

Applicants should be:

  • Early or mid-career professionals (e.g. in politics, civil service, media and non-governmental organisations), able to demonstrate both professional experience and potential for future excellence in the policy sphere.
  • Genuinely engaged individuals involved in policy issues, especially those related to transnational governance.
  • Self-motivated, able to present a clear work plan for the fellowship to show what the applicant will achieve and how this work will have a ‘multiplier’ impact after the fellowship.
  • Curious and engaged contributors. Fellows are expected to be part of the EUI community on a daily basis and to participate in peer discussions on topics, which may be beyond their expertise.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

The fellowships last for 3, 6 or 9 months, and are fully-funded with a grant of €2,500 per month. The fellowship is open to applications from anywhere in the world, regardless of nationality. EU citizenship is not required. There is no maximum or minimum age limit.

The deadline for applications is 22 February 2019.

About the School of Transnational Governance

Founded in 2017 and based at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy), the School of Transnational Governance (STG) brings the world of academia and policy-making together in an effort to navigate a context, both inside and outside Europe, where the challenges of Governance extend beyond the state.

Whilst many higher institutions offer education and training in public policy, the STG stands apart by looking at the key policy issues from a truly transnational perspective.

Currently, the STG delivers high-level training on the concepts, methods and practices of governance beyond the state, through three main types of activities: Executive Trainings, Policy Fellowships and Policy Dialogues. In Autumn 2020, the School will launch the first Master of Arts in Transnational Governance (MTnG).

About the European University Institute

The European University Institute (EUI) is a unique international centre for doctorate and post-doctorate studies and research, situated in the Tuscan hills overlooking Florence.

Since its founding in 1972 by the six original members of the then European Communities, the EUI has earned a reputation as a leading international academic institution with a European focus. The four departments – Economics, History and Civilization, Law, and Political and Social Sciences – host scholars from more than 60 countries, studying for the Institution’s doctorate or the one-year master in law.

Furthermore, the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) focuses on inter-disciplinary, comparative and policy research on the major issues affecting European societies, while the Max Weber Programme for Post-doctoral Studies prepares fellows for a career in academia. The School of Transnational Governance, established in 2017, aims to deliver teaching and high level training on the concepts, methods and techniques of transnational governance.
